A Serious Moment

I wanted to keep this blog fun and light. But allow me to be really serious for a minute.

We have been in Iraq for 3 years. True. During the same time that thousands are dying in Iraq, even more are dying in Sudan. Since 2003, there has been a civil war in Darfur (more or less sponsored by the government).

I’m sure if you saw the movie Hotel Rwanda or Sometimes in April you asked yourself how it is that so many people could die while we all sat by and let it happen. Sadly, its happening again. I thought we learned so much from Rwanda. But… nothing has changed.

A lot of school groups and community organizations have been sending items and money to the Darfur, but is it going to the people who really need it? Or is it just going to sponsor more violence?!

And what is the African Union doing?? and the UN?? And the US???

On April 30 there is going to be a rally in DC to send a message to President Bush that we want to do something about this. If you are able, please participate!!!!
